Dear Joe and Sally,
August, 2016, is the month that many ‘believers’ will ‘lose their faith’; whatever that may mean. A verse that comes to mind is Joh 6:66. “From this time many of His disciples went back unto the things behind, and walked no more with Him.” How could they have lost their faith so soon? They, five thousand men, apart from women and children had just returned from the ‘eating from the five loaves and two fishes’, those who were ill were healed and they were privileged to hear Jesus’ sermon concerning ‘the kingdom of his Father’.
Strange, down through the ages, so it appears the reason why Jesus left heaven and come to earth has not been understood. Minutes before Jesus’ ascension his disciples even asked Him, Act 1:6-, saying, “Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?” And He said unto them, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Jesus quotes his Father, the Holy Ghost and Himself.
It was many years later when Paul arrived on the scene that he wrote 1Co 2:7 [KJV], “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
Now, you are the only ones who knows what your understanding of the above reading means because of the spirit within you. Who else knows what goes on in your minds?
By the way, my understanding of ‘a living soul’ is what I read Gen 2:7, “And a Jehovah Gods formeth the man–dust from the ground, and breatheth into his nostrils a breath of life, and the man becometh a living soul.”
In my mind’s eye I see a lifeless ‘body of dust’ lying on the ground and One breathing into the nostrils of that lifeless body a breath of life and that body became a living soul we know as Adam. The day Adam ‘gave up’ that spirit he returned to dust so, a person consists of two ‘parts’, a dichotomy, not as we have been taught that humans consist of three ‘parts’, a trichotomy: body, soul and spirit.
As in the case of a marriage it consists of two people; a man and his wife. Yet one can pray God’s blessing on one’s marriage. But the day one of the partners ‘gives up’ his/hers spirit that marriage no longer exists.
Varied are the translations of Gen 2:7. I kept to the original text and therefore, “And a [singular] Jehovah Gods [Gods, in the plural] formeth the man–dust from the ground…”
Our understanding of the word ‘God’ has somehow been clouded thinking that it only refers to the God in heaven; our Father in heaven. No, there are many Gods. We try and distinguish between the many Gods by capitalizing the ‘G’. However, consider Gen 30:8, “And Rachel said, ‘With great wrestlings have I wrestled with my sister, and I have prevailed:’ and she called his name Naphtali [my wrestling].”
The word ‘great’ is ‘ĕlôhı̂ym [gods], “With wrestlings of gods have I wrestled with my sister…” Ponder Joh 10:33-, “The Jews answered Him, ‘We are not going to stone You for a good action, but for blasphemy, because You, a mere man, are making Yourself a God!’ Jesus replied to them, ‘Is it not having been written in your Law, I said, “You are gods”? If He called those, to whom the word from the God came, ‘gods’ (and the Scripture cannot be disregarded), how can you say to the One whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘A Son of the God I am?’”
However, there are only two Jehovah Gods. The word ‘Jehovah’ means ‘a self–Existent or eternal Being. Furthermore, we believe there are three Gods that witness for the heaven 1Joh 5:7, “The Father, and the Word and the Holy Spirit and the Three, Each, exist [They are].” We also believe that three there are witnessing for the earth :8, “The spirit, and the water, and the blood, and the three are to the One.”
We, as born again beings, know, having read from verse 1, concerning ‘the spirit, the water and the blood’ that ‘the spirit’ mentioned in verse 8 refers to verse 1, “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of the God, and everyone that loves Him that begot also loves him that is begotten of Him.” We have been ‘born of the God’ because of what is written, Rom 6:1-, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! We died to sin–How shall we live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism unto death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Paul further explains, Rom 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you.”
Jesus died the death that Adam should have died; Adam’s eating of the forbidden fruit. Adam received a holy spirit when the Jehovah breathed a spirit of life into that ‘dust formed body’. However, Adam’s holy spirit became contaminated after sinning and the ‘life’ he passed on to his descendants was a contaminated ‘spirit’. The sinless Jesus bore, in his body, upon the cross, our contaminated spirits and, to sins dying, we might live unto righteousness—by that wound we were restored for we were as sheep going astray, but now we are turned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
God the Father, says Paul, ‘begot’ Jesus, Act 13:32, “And we proclaim to you the good news of the promise which was made to the fathers, that the God has fulfilled this promise for us to their children, when He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten/engendered/become the Father of You.’
God, the Father in bringing Jesus back from death ‘breathed a Spirit of life’ into Jesus as is written, Rom 8:-10-, “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from death dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from death shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.” The same ‘Spirit’ that Jesus received is the ‘same kind of Spirit’, a Spirit of everlasting life, one receives when born again, 1Co 15:45, “Thus also it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living soul;’ the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.”
In truth then, we don’t believe in the ‘Trinity’ dogma. We believe there are three Gods that witness for the heaven—the Father, and the Word and the Holy Spirit and the Three, Each, exist [They are]. We also believe that three there are witnessing for the earth, the spirit [the spirit one receives at rebirth having died to sin; ‘through the washing of regeneration and renewing of a holy Spirit’ Tit 3:5] and the water, and the blood, and the three are to the One.
You may now wonder the link between: August, 2016, is the month that many ‘believers’ will ‘lose their faith’ and, everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of the God and, we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.?
First, many preachers worldwide are teaching that Aug 30 is ‘D-day’. Others claim Sept 2017 will be the fulfilment of Rev 12 and they play ‘connecting the dots’ game. Some say Antichrist will be revealed Sept 23rd others teach the 23rd will be the rapture of the church. Many claims have been made and many have lost their faith. Now, we know that Antichrist cannot be revealed on August 30th and neither can the rapture happen for it is written, 2Th 2:1-, “Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the arrival of the Lord of us Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, not to be quickly persuaded of the mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
“Let not anyone beguile you in any manner. For it will not be unless had come the falling away first, and the man of the sin shall be revealed, the son of the eternal ruin, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called a God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as a God in the temple of the God, setting himself forth, that he is a God.”
Concerning the above Jesus said, Mat 24:-4-, And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not disturbed; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of sorrows.
“Then they will hand you over to tribulation and they will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations, on account of My name. And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and they will hate one another. Then many false prophets will be raised up, and they will deceive many. And because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoever reads, let him understand)… But pray that your flight may not take place in winter, or on the Sabbath. For then there shall be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor by any means shall be. And unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, those days will be cut short… See, I have told you in advance…
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give its light; and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth shall mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Now learn this parable from the fig tree: ‘Whenever its branch already becomes tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near.’ So you also, whenever you see all these things, know that it is near–at the doors!”
‘All these things’ have not yet happened. At best we can say is, we are still in the time of, “And then many will fall away, and they will betray one another, and they will hate one another. Then many false prophets will be raised up, and they will deceive many. And because lawlessness will increase, the love of many will grow cold.”
It is written, 1Th 5:1-, “But concerning the times and the seasons, ‘siblings’ [born of the same spirit], you have no need that I should write you. For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, just as labour pains upon the woman that is pregnant, and they shall by no means escape. But you, siblings, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all siblings of light and siblings of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness.
“Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those getting drunk are drunk at night. But we, since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, a hope of deliverance. For the God did not appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, in order that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
Ponder, ‘those who endure to the end’. ‘Endure’ is the key word. ‘Endure’ means to bear hardship: to experience exertion, pain, or hardship without giving up; the nation endured years of war to create a lasting peace. However, when that longed for world leader, ‘Antichrist’, does appear all will say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them as the saying goes, “It shall make your stomach bitter, but it shall be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”
Paul confirms the above saying, 2Ti 4:3-, “For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears, and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.” So, be careful ‘little ears what you hear’. People are getting tired of hearing predictions concerning the ‘end of the world’.
Consider Abraham, the father of ‘Faith’. He was a wealthy man, a sun worshipper, 75 years old, his wife 65 [no children] and the word of a Jehovah came to him and said, Gen 12:1-, “Go out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house into a land that I will show you. And I will make you a great nation…”
“And Abram departed, even as a Jehovah had spoken to him.” He waited 25 years before Sarah his wife gave birth to Isaac. He lived in tents until he died at the age 175. Consider Abraham’s trials and, hang on; it’s worth it,
